365 : Week THREE

Image
1/15/13-Quick outing to the grocery store...Karis always wants to stand on the scale they have located just inside the door (which I still have yet to figure out why a large scale is located there!)  If you can look closely enough you see she is 25 pounds, our little quarter pounder as we call her, and has been for a while now! 1/16/13-On Monday evening our air conditioner went out.  Two days later the part arrived to have it fixed.  We're thankful for our kind neighbor who had the skill and willingness to fix it for us!  Karis was cooling off in front of the fan...good thing it's only 80's in January here in FL! 1/17/13-Sorting and putting away Isaac's clothes he has outgrown.  While I packed it up, he pulled it out and Karis kept trying on items in the bag! 1/18/13-On Steve's day off, we took a trip to the Orlando Science Center.  Karis enjoyed playing at all the fun learning stations and Isaac enjoyed a snooze on mommy.  Here is our ...

365 : week TWO

1/8/13 - Karis likes playing with playdoh.  This particular time she said she was making cookies for our neighbors...what a little servant! 1/9/13 -We always enjoy our weekly playgroup time with neighbor friends - cleaning toys afterward  1/10/13 - Isaac's first time playing on the indoor jungle gym at Chick-fil-a 1/11/13 -  Apparently Karis thinks we're still in Minnesota!  She was insistent on wearing her winter hat while she played with stickers 1/12/13 - We joined the other Valentine's for some outdoor fun while uncle Rob smoked up some meats for us in his new smoker.  These four were happy to play in the pool together (even though there was another {bigger} pool right next to it!) 1/13/13 - spending some much needed time pulling weeds outside while Karis played with her toys.  We're enjoying the 80 degree weather this January here in Florida! 1/14/13 -  I began the process of weaning Isaac from nursing when we returned...

365 : Week ONE

Image
I plan to take at least one picture (or more) each day this year and post what we do around here in the Valentine house.  I know several people who have done this and I want to see if I can stick with it the entire year!  So here we go with the first week of January...enjoy! JAN 1-As we finished up our trip in Minnesota, we spent a couple nights in a hotel where Isaac enjoyed climbing in our suitcase and playing with our clothes! JAN 2- Karis enjoying the view of Lake Superior from the Duluth Aquarium.  Great view of the Lift Bridge and ice chunks floating in water. JAN 3- Relaxing in First class on our flight home JAN 4- Friday Movie Night!  Each week we watch a movie as a family and Karis decided this was a better way to watch the movie! JAN 5- Isaac & Karis sporting their new Viking threads.  As Karis says, GO VIKINGS! Too bad they lost :/ JAN 6- Karis mastering her chopstick skills!  We  enjoyed trying s...

First Class

Image
As it turns out, our trip home from Minnesota last week ended with our little family of four riding First Class! You would think we do that all the time as we boarded when Karis sits down and says, "where's the TV?!" It was actually funny to me when Steve came back from the desk and said that we had all been bumped up to first class. See, he travels often for work and gets bumped up all the time so he was excited for me to enjoy riding first class. As enjoyable as that sounded, all I could think about was how would our children act and what would those around us think with our noisy ten month old and talkative two year old! Karis and Isaac both traveled well after settling in...Karis enjoyed her stickers and games while Isaac slept for most of the flight. I enjoyed the extra space and Steve laughed at me when I said, "I could get used to that!" Obviously this isn't possible with our budget but it was fun to enjoy some perks awarded Steve as a frequent fly...

No Room, Part 2

Our visit to Minnesota is coming to an end...being here always makes me not like the cold weather {again} and so I will be glad to be home in Florida in just a few days! Karis has enjoyed playing in the snow, but hates putting on a jacket, shoes, hat, etc! And its been super funny to watch her walk outside holding her arms around herself saying, "brrr its cold!"  During our time here, we haven't been able to stay at any of our family's houses (too full already, so no room in their Inns!) However, we were blessed to stay in a home of one of my mom's friends while they were actually out of town for the holidays. We were grateful for lots of extra space and a warm house! These last two nights of our time here, we're staying in another hotel as the residents of that home are returning this afternoon.  I'm laying here on the hotel bed, while the kiddos nap in the hotel room...Karis has a fever and Isaac seems a little out of sorts...all ready to head h...

No Room in the Inn

Steve and I joked a few weeks back about a situation that came up about our trip to Minnesota for the Christmas holidays because the place we were to stay was no longer available and so we joked about how there was "no room in the Inn"!  Lodging got figured out and we were looking forward to spending Christmas with my side of the family.  And then there was today, a day I never even anticipated.  We arrived at the Orlando airport bright and early and boarded our plane with a very excited two year old and goofy grinned little ten month old.  Karis hasn't been on a plane in a while and she has been so excited to get on an airplane to go see "snowflake".  {Yea, we keep trying to tell her it's just called "snow" or "snowflakes"}  The flight was great, Karis was excited and very entertained by the goody bag I had prepared with all sorts of "busy activities" a two year old could ever want and Isaac just slept.  We got to Chicago, ...

7, 8 & 9

And just like that, Isaac is 9 months old!  In fact, the day after he turned nine months old I looked at him in all seriousness and said, "Isaac, 9 months ago at this time, I was checking into the hospital because I was in labor" {thinking it was the 26th} ...Steve looks at me and says, "no you weren't Jenny, it's the 28th today"!  WHAAAT!  Seriously, how did I miss that!? So here is my post about the past three months! And get excited about tons of pictures ;) Seven Months He became aware of his hand movement and control.  It's fun to watch him stare intently at his hands. The day he turned 7 months he went from all fours to sitting.  This was a fun new trick.  He enjoys playing with his hair (and mommy's hair & daddy's beard...sometimes pulling Karis' hair!) His hair is starting to fill in more so I think he's more aware of it. He has the BIGGEST smile! Trying to figure out crawling...notice the drool stream! Lo...
