And just like that, Isaac is 9 months old! In fact, the day after he turned nine months old I looked at him in all seriousness and said, "Isaac, 9 months ago at this time, I was checking into the hospital because I was in labor" {thinking it was the 26th} ...Steve looks at me and says, "no you weren't Jenny, it's the 28th today"! WHAAAT! Seriously, how did I miss that!?
So here is my post about the past three months! And get excited about tons of pictures ;)
Seven Months
- He became aware of his hand movement and control. It's fun to watch him stare intently at his hands.
- The day he turned 7 months he went from all fours to sitting. This was a fun new trick. He enjoys playing with his hair (and mommy's hair & daddy's beard...sometimes pulling Karis' hair!) His hair is starting to fill in more so I think he's more aware of it.

Eight Months
Month eight has been the most changes thus far in his little life. He has discovered so many new things this past month and it's been so much fun watching him learn and master new things.
- Biggest news, he's crawling! It took him about a week to figure it out and once he had it down, there is no stopping this boy! It's cute because he will just follow me around or big sister when we go to another room. It's fun to call his name and see his big smily face come crawling around the corner.
- He uses sign language to say "more" and "eat" when he wants more food...except instead of two distinct motions, he combines them and it's quite amusing. He cracks us up because he wakes up saying "more" and even while I'm nursing him he's signing more! This kid likes eating and can't get enough.
- He is constantly going from crawling to sitting to crawling without effort. He is also beginning to try and pull up on things. There have been a few times I've come into his room and he's standing in bed holding on to the side rail. We lowered the mattress when that started!
- He claps when music is playing and bounces on his bottom while clapping. It almost looks like he's dancing.
- His first word, "Dada", also took place this month. Steve says it's only fair because Karis said "mama" first! Isaac will just crawl around saying, "dada, dada, da da dada"...it's pretty cute. He does try other words and noises if you encourage it, but no other word has been clear yet.
- This month he got Croup, his first sickness. It was a pretty big mess too because big sister had Strep at the same time and daddy was away on business traveling. We were glad for him to be home and for our little ones to be better. Nothing like a pitiful coughing baby to make a mama's heart sad!
- His official check up appointment was at 9 months, we did find out that he weighs 18 pounds when we took him to the doctor for Croup. We laugh because he's a pound shy of what Karis was at one year! We love every chubby roll on his body and I'm thankful he's crawling so I don't have to carry this big guy everywhere now ;)

"parents" here for a week...all the kiddos had a blast with them! |
Nine Months
- He began pulling up on things like crazy. And like all the other milestones he's been learning, he perfected it within a day or so and pulls up on everything. He doesn't quite walk along things he has pulled up on but is getting close to that. I am beginning to wonder if he will be an early walker like his sister (who first walked at 10 months)!
- He is making more noises, and started saying "mama, lala, baba" (I think lala is because that's what we call Aunt Lauren {lala} and he hears Karis say it often and baba I think means ball to him)
- He expresses his displeasure to me taking something away from him that he wants but I don't want him to play with or eat!
- He pulls on my shirt when he's ready to eat milk, yet is very, very distracted while eating...which always poses a problem with big sister around to easily distract him!
- He responds (by stopping) to when we say "no touch" as he's reaching for daddy's books on the shelf or trying to pull the outlet plugs out.
- He smiles a goofy grin when you hold the camera up to take his picture.
- He has started to wave as to say "hi"
- His first tooth popped through the gums, followed by a second which is still emerging
- He weighs 19.5lbs (25th percentile), 29.25" (75 percentile), head circumference is 44cm (10-25th percentile)
