POLAND 365 :: WEEKS 49 & 50

December 9 - Down at the Christmas Markets
with some ladies from Bible Study and I got to
taste Chestnuts from an open fire for the first
time and they were tasty!
December 10 - Getting resourceful when things like vanilla
extract cost so much money here (but the vodka is cheap so
I made my own!)
December 11 - Afternoon coffee makes a cold day better.
December 12 -Can you tell what season is upon us? We have
the oils going in the diffuser, tissues galore and homemade
disinfectant spray...this week started a three month long illness
streak for our family, and finally this month (March of 2017)
we are seeing some upward gains in the health department!

December 13 - Mailing Christmas cards to
friends back home in America...and the line
in the post office here is just like it would be at
the holiday times in America ;) The funny part
about this entire story, is the Christmas cards
did not arrive until end of February to most of
our friends! I don't know if that's normal for the
mail from Poland at holiday times, but we got a
good laugh that the Christmas cards were arriving
to people AFTER our annual Valentine card was
sent out, haha!
December 14 - There are few people who make me laugh super hard...but this
funny little gal (my niece Eloise) is definitely on the list! This girl had us all
cracking up with her silly faces on FaceTime and it was just what the heart
needed after days upon days of taking care of sick kiddos.
December 15 - Grandma arrived to Poland! Jenny's mom came for a month
long stay in Poland to be here for Christmas. Steve caught this glorious moment
of our kids running to embrace her and it was so special to have her here with us
during this month.
December 16 - Well after a week of illness,
a simple virus turned into bronchitis for this
little man (then pneumonia in January). As
frustrating as this was, there are a few high
lights we are taking away from this...we found
a pediatrician we like and who is becoming
VERY familiar with our kiddos since she has
been seeing them so much over the past few
months. AND we didn't have to be in the
hospital this year for him to be treated.

December 17 - Mom and I got to go out for some
Christmas shopping  and lunch together and she handled
the public transportation here in Poland very well.
December 18 - Christmas party with our small group from PoznaƄ International
Church...we had a wonderful evening being together with all these friends.
+A picture from December 19 is missing+

December 20 - What's Christmas time without baking cookies with Grandma?
So special that our children got to do Christmas cookies together this year with
their grandma. Many fun memories were made while she was here.
December 21 - Down at the Christmas markets
one evening and the kids were sliding down this
ramp in their snow suits pretending to be penguins!
December 22 - Wigilia, which is what they call Christmas Eve here in Poland,
is also celebrated at their school before the kids are let out for the holidays. The kids
get all dressed up, and share a meal together while singing Christmas carols.
It's a neat tradition. This is Karis' class (Karis is back to the camera in the middle).
