POLAND 365 :: WEEK 8

February 19 - There are a couple places we have found
where you can buy produce (among many other things)
outside in markets like this one. The day we walked by
this one, we were told it is one of the best ones in Poznan.
February 20 - Finally, two months after receiving our
shipment of belongings from the States, we are beginning
to hang things on the wall. I had to put this one right in
our dining room, a very sweet reminder of our home in
Florida and the amazing friendships we have there.
February 21 - Sunday afternoons we try to relax and take naps if possible.
ALL of us! This is really good for our hearts to take time to rest.
February 22 - This begins the birthday week
for these two cuties (Olivia and Isaac turned
2 & 4 this week). It was a full week and we
are thankful for a healthy family this week
in order to be able to celebrate these two
little blessings!
February 23 - ok we will gush the rest of this week on little Olivia!
Olivia is the third born, and all you third born children know that
they rarely get spotlight...y'all know I'm speaking from experience right?!
And now I can almost hear my older brothers laughing as they read this
comment too ;) Anyway, she is our snuggle bug and at the moment usually
only wants mama to do anything for her, from putting her in her highchair,
to getting her snacks, to changing diapers (yea daddy's happy about that
one I'm sure!) So bedtime is no different...she wants her mama, her blanket
and her lambi as you see. And notice, lambi (who once sported a bright
green pacifier has been cut off and this two year old is paci free, and it
only took two weeks. Alright, let's be honest, it was a LONG two weeks!
February 24 - Ok, I'll be honest. I do like the
convenience we often found in America. Like
going to the store and buying delicious cake
(or cupcakes) for a birthday party! However,
that isn't always the same here. You can buy
many tasty treats, cakes, etc. here but they
are a bit different in taste (much less sweet).
And although I prefer the less sweet we find
all around town here, my kids do not as much.
So I whipped up (pun intended) some tasty
vanilla cupcakes with homemade strawberry
butter cream icing. I'm not the best baker, but I
did learn a thing or two from my dad growing
up (although I wish I would have paid more
attention when he tried teaching me!) But
these turned out good and were a hit with
the three kiddos. I'm getting better at baking
here and figuring out what is what in the
grocery stores...although I have a lot more
to learn for sure. Until then, google translate
has been a huge help for grocery shopping!
February 25 - This picture is a perfect depiction of our littlest princess. She
is goofy as can be, but timid and a bit reserved when something or someone
new is around. So here she is, preparing to blow out birthday candles while
our family sang her happy birthday, staring at us wondering "what in the
world do you expect me to do with these two candles on my perfectly delicious
looking cupcake?" Well she did not blow them out, and as soon as mommy did
that for her, the smoke blowing up made her grimace even more. It was actually
pretty comical. We love this spunky little gal and thank God for allowing us
to be her mommy and daddy...she brings much joy to our lives!
