POLAND 365 :: WEEK 7

February 12 - A quick visit to the doctor for
the two littlest in our family, and antibiotics
prescribed to help them heal. Now, the first
time we had to take kids to the doctor (which
actually was one of my biggest fears before
arriving to Poland) we had only been here
about a month and so you can imagine my
surprise (then) when I brought the medicine home
from the Apteka (Pharmacy) to find powder in a
bottle! After some translation help from friends,
I was able to figure out just how much water I had
to add to the powder and begin administering
the medicine properly. So now, as we were prescribed
antibiotics (probably the third time since being here)
I'm a pro at knowing what I need to do to prep the medicine.
This is very different than back in the States for us, and
actually very surprising!
February 13 - What to do when most everyone is stuck inside sick over Valentine's
Day weekend...why bake heart shaped chocolate chip cookies - thanks to those who
sent chocolate chips to us from the states!

February 14 - One of our favorite days of the year...of course ;) We like to give
a small gift to the kids and candy, and of course they got some cards and small
things from grandparents back in the States so they had a fun morning opening
these things. They were all still pretty sick and we began the morning with yucky
vomit, but thankfully after this day, we were on the up around here in our health.

February 15 - Usually what happens when the house
is full of sickies is mama forgets to go to the store for
the basic things...like milk! So Steve made a quick
run to the little grocer around the corner from our
house. This is what our milk comes in (or cartons
sometimes) and so we end up going through about
one a day of these between the three kiddos! When
Steve went there to buy the two liters of milk, he
didn't have the correct change and so the lady put a
little slip of paper in the till of how much we owed
and said just come back when we could with our 5
zloty payment (about a little over one USD) and sent
Steve off to head back home! This surprised us and is
not something we ever experienced in the States either.
February 16 - Jenny began a new language class
in a different part of town, and is located near
the Polish pottery shop...which if you haven't
seen Polish pottery, I recommend you google it,
it's beautiful! I merely took this picture for my
sweet friend Amanda, who first introduced me
to this beautiful pottery when we first began the
journey of coming to Poland!
February 17 - Usually every Wednesday, Steve heads over
to Gniezno, Poland for meetings with other pastors from the
International Church. He rides on the train (pictured here)
and always enjoys seeing the beautiful Polish countryside
on his hour ride over.
February 18 - Steve and I spent a couple hours away from kiddos while some
friends watched them, so we could get some work done. It's not always easy to
balance the work (emails, phone calls, etc) and studying language with three
small kiddos, but we are learning to find a grove in how to do this well.
