POLAND 365 :: WEEK 6

February 5 - Steve began training last week to run
the Poznan Marathon this coming Fall...more to
come no doubt about this endeavor! And don't you
know Isaac wants to be just like daddy :)
February 6 - Family day consisted of an afternoon walk around a local lake -
that our kids thought was the Florida beach ;) During our walk we found this
outdoor exercise area. One of the first things I remember seeing at a park here
when we arrived in Poland was an exercise area like this and pretty soon found
out that they have exercise equipment like this all over the city at different
parks and locations, it's pretty neat.
February 7 - first birthday party we have attended for friends
here in Poland. Notice the firecracker of a candle that is blazing
as we al sing the "Happy birthday" song and "Sto Lat" to these
two lovely gals! Party was at an indoor play area in a mall, and
it seems every mall has one of these play areas, which is very
different than back in the States where we lived, really cool
and kids love to go play there (and it's not that expensive)!
February 8 - At our oldest child's school, the teacher sends home notes each
day (or every other day) with different things to know on upcoming events
or about supplies she needs to bring for projects. It's always a challenge for
us to figure out what it says (especially when she hand writes the notes) but
Steve is getting better at reading it and understanding. But when we don't
have the slightest clue and google translate doesn't help us either, because
sometimes a direct translation doesn't work with Polish to English, we take
a picture and send to our language tutor and she helps us translate the message!
February 9 - The first time we received a letter or package
here at our home, we were really amused that the post man
rides his bike to deliver mail. (Of course bigger boxes are
delivered in a truck). But this particular day, when the post
man arrived, we were just getting home from an outing and
he came bearing not one, not two BUT three packages. I
laughed as he kept pulling items out of his satchel. We've
gotten to see this post man quite a bit and even got to share
some cookies with him fresh out of the oven one day when
he came by with our mail. He is a very nice man and we are
glad for all who have sent us mail here, warms our hearts!

February 10 - Changing up the chalk board
art... as you have probably already
figured out, we kinda like Valentine's day
over here in our family ;)

February 11 - This pretty much sums up the past few days. All three kiddos home
sick -well #1 was merely having sympathy pains for her younger two siblings, haha!
This was a rough day for #2 and #3 and we hope they get to feeling better soon.
Until then, movies have been the thing to do while they rest and get better.
