Running to the Strong Tower

This has been a hard week for our family. We have endured sickness (4 times over), financial pressure, the ongoing process of raising support and keeping up with many hours of online missionary training.  As if that wasn't an exhausting list already, I just spent the last several hours in the emergency room with our youngest who fell down a flight of stairs. And about that...She is OK!

But we are tired. We are weary. We are emotionally drained. We are in need of good rest (as that has not been happening with several sickies here, myself included!)

But I can't go on without saying that
we are thankful that the Lord has
sustained us through this hard week.

We aren't promised a life here on Earth without trouble, fear, doubt, persecution, pain, weariness or strife. But we have a Strong Tower that we can run in to in order to endure the storms of life. This verse started going through my head this evening, along with one other as I walked out of the E.R. with my daughter (thanking God that she wasn't badly hurt from the tumble):

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous runs into it and is safe.
Proverbs 18:10

I am well aware that our circumstances are not as bad as others...but instead of invalidating my own feelings (as I can tend to do), and instead of feeling like a screw up parent after this evening's events with the baby...I'm pressing into the One who knows all things, created all things and is at work in all things. I'm pressing in for my sufficiency, for comfort, for safety, for rest.

The other verse that was on my mind was:

Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.
Isaiah 40:31

We are trusting God for His Words to dig deep roots into our hearts (even after this long crazy week) and asking for Him to carry us when we feel like we are done.

Thank you to many who are and will pray for our family, we are grateful.
