Selling Our Home

We are sitting here on the couch, discussing the events of the past 24 hours and finding ourselves grateful and in awe. We do not believe in chance or coincidence, but we believe God's hand was completely in orchestrating all parts of selling our home.

TIMELINE of EVENTS:
  • Thursday-sign paperwork to list house.
  • Friday-Realtor listing home.
  • Saturday (late night)-house was officially listed.
  • Tuesday evening-message about showing the house on Wednesday (Found out that they would have shown it Tuesday instead but couldn't get a hold of us, only to find out they were dialing the wrong number!)
  • Wednesday evening-potential buyers view the house.
  • Wednesday later evening-call from our Realtor saying that the family will be sending an offer letter.
  • Thursday (at 6:15am)- open email to find the offer letter.
  • Thursday morning-conversations between Realtor and those making offer to finalize on an acceptable offer. 
  • Thursday afternoon-set closing date for September 3, appraisal to be set on the home in the meantime. 

WHEW! Did that make you tired just reading it?!  WOW! We are beyond thankful for how the Lord has been at work in our midst as we continue to take steps of obedience in leaving our home here and move to Poland. 

Specific things we are THANKFUL for in this process of selling our home:
  • answer to prayer of selling fast (to the first family that looked at our home)!
  • the fact that we were able to schedule a closing date for two days prior to leaving on our scheduled two month trip around the States to raise support. It is a blessing to us not to have the mortgage payment any longer, especially as Steve's salary drops down. 
  • the buyer already had a contract written up on our house before even looking at it because they wanted a house in our neighborhood and only "had" to look at it to confirm that indeed they did want it.
  • that the buyer's Realtor finally realized they were dialing the wrong number to get a hold of us and did finally get in touch with us to show our home...which in turn was a blessing in timing because it worked better for us to show on Wednesday.
  • Opportunities to continue to share our story and vision about moving to Poland-and hearing from people and churches almost daily about supporting us.
  • for all those who have and are still praying for us and the sell of our home and all aspects of moving forward.
  • for neighbors who have opened their homes and time to watch kiddos (so we could clean) and others whom let us come so we could get out of our house during the showing.
  • feeling the presence of the Lord and knowing He has everything already planned out (we're just trusting Him in faith).
Next Steps:
  • keep on packing, selling things, and give things away.
  • continue to care for the kiddos well in the midst of so much change.
  • move stuff (that we are keeping/taking to Poland) to storage, which is where we will keep it while we travel this Fall.
  • house appraisal
Thanks to all who have and will continue to pray for us, encourage us, and assist in helping us make this transition.

Sitting down to write this blog post has been a long time coming (well at least 20 weeks or so!) But we are excited to announce that we are expecting our fourth child! Dear Grandma...

Today is my grandmother's birthday. This is a big deal. Today she celebrates 93 full and amazing years here on earth. My grandma is a special lady (more on that in a minute) and the only grandparent I ever knew (long story for another time). I often think it's amazing that my kids get to know all four of their grandparents, and we cherish the moments when we are all together. The past couple of years have been a bit up and down for my grandma in regard to her health and honestly I hate being across the world during this time and also a bit envious when my brothers and cousins get to visit her when they are able (so all y'all give her a hug when you see her next for me!) It's never easy being apart from family, but especially when one is ill. Surprise Arrival!

This is a long post. But many of you have asked about the story of Milo's arrival. So I wanted to take time to write it out, details and all. But  for those who don't want to read the entire story with all the details, feel free to scroll through and just look at the pictures! A lot of you were shocked to hear of his arrival...so were we! (After all, we were still 25 days out from his due date when he made his appearance). I had just gone to my 36 week checkup two days prior, all was healthy and well with baby and with me and there were no signs of early labor. At that appointment, the doctor said that I was 1 cm dilated, but honesty I knew I could be at that for several weeks before seeing any progress to labor.
