Poland: next steps

So in our last blog post about Poland, we mentioned that we were planning on making it home in 2015...so here's a little back story.

Steve, who spends his days mobilizing missionaries with Converge Worldwide, was handed a folder with some information about Poland and things going on there. As is normal in his job, he sees a lot of field locations all over the world in great need of the Gospel. It's how he knows who to recruit for specific places. So when he began reading the information in this folder, the Lord began to stir his heart. Steve found himself being drawn to the people in Poland. This was around the time just after Isaac was born and so when he came home and mentioned this opportunity to me, I said, "it sounds neat but we just had a baby, let's pray about it over the next few months." Essentially, even though our hearts have been drawn toward serving overseas one day as missionaries, I wasn't even sleeping through the night and just trying to survive the days of mothering two little ones that I couldn't even comprehend this amazing opportunity at that time. A couple months passed, and we were all sleeping more, both Steve and I felt led to look further into the possibility of moving to Poland.

Last year, we had the opportunity to meet with a couple who have served as missionaries in Poland for 12 years. They were in the States for home assignment and so we spent a couple days visiting with them. After asking TONS of questions, we continued to feel a tug in this direction. We decided that the next best step was to visit Poland and scope it out for ourselves. We had the opportunity to go there last October (as we documented in the OTHER POST with many pictures). Everything we learned and experienced while we were there can't be written in a short blog post, but what I will say briefly is this...it was evident that we knew this was where we needed to move next in our lives.

Fast forward to April 1st...after months of applications, references, assessments, and meetings with people from multiple mission organizations...we were approved to serve as missionaries through Converge Worldwide. We look forward to what's ahead! This past week we had our MPD orientation. This was the beginning steps in starting the ministry partner development. Check out this STORY (and picture) about our orientation week. On the first day of orientation we were tasked to write up a short bio and we were excited to find out later that day that the staff at Converge had already put it up on their website...HERE. Talk about getting us started up for success! We know the journey ahead in raising support will not always be easy, but we fully trust that the Lord will provide.

Thanks to those who have asked about, prayed for and helped care for our family during this time, we greatly appreciate it.

Jenny
