Marriage : celebration

Today we celebrated five years of marriage. We are on a little getaway tagged on the end of one of Steve's work trips. We have enjoyed sleeping in and spending as much time doing "nothing", afterall, relaxation is sometimes hard to come by these days with two little ones in the house. Speaking of, we have missed them so much and look forward to seeing them tomorrow afternoon when we arrive back in Orlando. {My mom has selflessly given of herself this week to be in Orlando and care for our children while we're away, and we are immensely grateful for her}
After waking up around 6 am today and finding it hard to fall back asleep wondering if my sister in law had her babies safely, we finally received a call from her around 7am {our time in Phoenix}. After talking to her for a little bit we got up and ready to head to breakfast. We got the opportunity to Skype with our children and my mom and it was such a joy to see their smiley faces. After our Skype call, we enjoyed talking about some of our favorite moments of the past five years and discuss hopes for the years ahead. We went back to the hotel after breakfast to get ready for the remainder of the day, it was enjoyable to take our time and not feel rushed. We had a small lunch later on just before watching a movie at the theater {another thing we really enjoy doing but rarely get the chance}. After the movies, our day was a little less than ideal {for me} as we had left two jackets and my favorite scarf at our previous hotel, calling them to retrieve it but to no avail...so I was in a little funk at the beginning of our sushi dinner. But it's just stuff. And if I've learned anything in five years of marriage, it's that circumstances don't always happen the way you hope they will.
We're back at our hotel and I'm writing this as I sit locked out of our hotel room while Steve runs downstairs to get the key fixed {see what I'm saying, these things just happen sometimes and God is using moments like we've had today to teach me to be patient and learn to still enjoy being in the company of my husband in the midst of frustrating situations and to have a sense of humor, it's not the end of the world when things don't go "right"} and we plan to call it an early night because we have an early wake up call to catch our flight home!
Here's a few pics from our day, our fifth anniversary!
