One Third of a Year

Isaac is four months old!

I wanted to wait and post his four month blog so I had his stats from his doctor checkup.  He is healthy and as the doctor said, very active!  What's up with us having "busy babes"?!
 
Isaac is a whopping 13 lbs, 8oz (25th percentile)!  He is 24 1/4 in long (also 25th percentile) and his head is measuring 40 1/2 cm (10th percentile).
His latest happenings include:
  • sucking fingers (specifically the pointer and middle finger)
  • cooing more and making shreaking noises (like his sister did...LOUDLY!)
  • sleeping longer stretches (more on a schedule)-eating once in the middle of the night still
  • holding head up well during tummy time and in the bumbo chair for a short time. Also likes sitting at the table in his highchair during mealtimes.
  • responds to you saying his name by turning and looking at you
  • giggles a lot, especially when it's mommy or daddy talking to him!  He also likes giggling at his cousins. Karis especially makes him laugh a lot and it makes me so happy to see them "getting along"!
  • he likes to grab things, hold toys (especially noisy or crinkly sounding toys).  He has a few new carseat toys that keep him entertained while we drive.  Steve and I could not stop laughing the first time he had a carseat toy and was cracking himself up playing with it!  He also likes to play with mommy's long hair when he nurses, seriously one of the sweetest moments I get to experience as a mommy!
  • he rolled over twice on June 24th from tummy to back, just days before he turned four months.  Hasn't happened again, but he tries real hard to do it
  • he still likes to be swaddled tight when he sleeps

This trip for uncle Dave was one of firsts: First

and First time daddy!

So far he likes it!

He especially likes it when sissy "gives him a ride" in it!

I had hoped he wouldn't be a finger sucker, but it's so darn cute!

Every day that I get to spend with Isaac, I love him more and more!  I catch myself just looking at him and thinking, he's my son!  I love him so much and glad I get to be his mommy!

Adding to the Family!

Sitting down to write this blog post has been a long time coming (well at least 20 weeks or so!) But we are excited to announce that we are expecting our fourth child! Dear Grandma...

Today is my grandmother's birthday. This is a big deal. Today she celebrates 93 full and amazing years here on earth. My grandma is a special lady (more on that in a minute) and the only grandparent I ever knew (long story for another time). I often think it's amazing that my kids get to know all four of their grandparents, and we cherish the moments when we are all together. The past couple of years have been a bit up and down for my grandma in regard to her health and honestly I hate being across the world during this time and also a bit envious when my brothers and cousins get to visit her when they are able (so all y'all give her a hug when you see her next for me!) It's never easy being apart from family, but especially when one is ill. So I write, because it's what I can do...no she's not going to be on Facebook reading the link to our blog, but I know my mom will gladly call her and read this to her. Surprise Arrival!

This is a long post. But many of you have asked about the story of Milo's arrival. So I wanted to take time to write it out, details and all. But  for those who don't want to read the entire story with all the details, feel free to scroll through and just look at the pictures! A lot of you were shocked to hear of his arrival...so were we! (After all, we were still 25 days out from his due date when he made his appearance). I had just gone to my 36 week checkup two days prior, all was healthy and well with baby and with me and there were no signs of early labor. At that appointment, the doctor said that I was 1 cm dilated, but honesty I knew I could be at that for several weeks before seeing any progress to labor.
