His Name Shall Be

Isaac Haddon Valentine

What a joy it was to learn I am carrying a boy inside of me!  We were able to see our little boy yesterday during my 19 week ultrasound.  At my 12 week ultrasound, the technician had made a guess about the gender, guessing boy.  After that appointment, we decided we should look into boy names, because there were none on our list.  Even though we knew there was still the possibility of having a girl, we were very excited to find out yesterday!

He appeared to be healthy:
  • heart rate 153-strong and sounded amazing
  • measuring around 10 ounces (a week bigger than what they say my due date is)
  • was head down...PRAISE THE LORD!  We pray he stays in that position.
  • very relaxed, little movement (unlike his big sister), he was laid back with his hands behind his head and legs crossed :)
Our initial reactions:
  • Me-laughter and excitement
  • Steve-also laughter and excitement and gave me a high five
  • Karis-cried hysterically!  Ha, we think it was more because of our burst of excitement rather than the fact she's have a little brother ;) - She doesn't like sudden loud bursts of noise (clapping, laughter, cheering for a football game, etc.)  Once she stopped crying, she enjoyed watching the screen and seeing the baby move around!
We have chosen the name Isaac for several reasons.   Isaac means "He laughs/will laugh".  In the book of Genesis in the Bible, God promises Abraham and Sarah a son, Sarah laughed as she heard this because she was old and well past child bearing years.  Later after Isaac is born she says, "God has made laughter for me..." (Gen. 21:6).  We felt Isaac was a fitting name for our son because he has already brought us much laughter and joy.  And although our laughter isn't because I'm well past child bearing years, it's laughter of being able to bear a child in general and that he will be the first grandson on both the Valentine and Lemaster sides.  Watch out all you girl cousins, here comes a boy!  We have chosen Haddon for his middle name after a great man who was very influential during his time and an outstanding author, C.H. Spurgeon (Charles Haddon).  We pray our son becomes a man of God who desires to see the name of Jesus Christ made famous as Spurgeon's life often modeled.

We love you so much already Isaac Haddon and pray that the Lord continues to form every part of you perfectly throughout the rest of my pregnancy.

Jenny
