11 months old

We got to see our daughter become 11 months old a few days ago!  As I've said in many of her monthly updates on this blog...we love her so much and thank God for the blessing she has been in our family. 

She is learning new skills these days and it seems to happen at a rapid rate now!
  • the biggest news is she started taking her first real steps.  She still primarily crawls, but she is picking up the walking thing at a rapid pace!
  • She cut her top front two teeth and they look so cute when she scrunches her face up to smile
  • she is saying "ma" for more and "ga" for go...along with tons of other babbling we haven't yet figured out the meaning
  • she began doing a "downward facing dog yoga" type pose where she looks through her legs and it's too cute and makes us laugh when she rolls a ball through her legs too.
  • she started throwing (of sorts) the ball to us when we throw it to her - Steve says she's got quite the arm!
  • she took yet another plane trip to Minnesota (for vacation over the fourth of July to visit my side of the family and meet her newest cousin, Grace)
  • her appetite has doubled and she likes biting food with her new teeth instead of always eating purees
  • we discovered she can climb stairs...at uncle Dave and Aunt Amy's house...and she's pretty good at it!  Along this line, she will try to climb just about anything at her level. 
  • She laughs a lot and her giggle keeps getting more and more distinct!
The biggest news (other than walking of course) was that Karis found out she would become a big sister in the spring!  Yep we found out baby number two is on the way and due sometime early March of 2012...what a blessing!

Adding to the Family!

Sitting down to write this blog post has been a long time coming (well at least 20 weeks or so!) But we are excited to announce that we are expecting our fourth child! Below, you will see some pictures highlighting parts of this pregnancy so far and also I talk about the name we have chosen for our little guy. Enjoy! Dear Grandma...

Today is my grandmother's birthday. This is a big deal. Today she celebrates 93 full and amazing years here on earth. My grandma is a special lady (more on that in a minute) and the only grandparent I ever knew (long story for another time). I often think it's amazing that my kids get to know all four of their grandparents, and we cherish the moments when we are all together. The past couple of years have been a bit up and down for my grandma in regard to her health and honestly I hate being across the world during this time and also a bit envious when my brothers and cousins get to visit her when they are able (so all y'all give her a hug when you see her next for me!) It's never easy being apart from family, but especially when one is ill. So I write, because it's what I can do...no she's not going to be on Facebook reading the link to our blog, but I know my mom will gladly call her and read this to her. Surprise Arrival!

This is a long post. But many of you have asked about the story of Milo's arrival. So I wanted to take time to write it out, details and all. But  for those who don't want to read the entire story with all the details, feel free to scroll through and just look at the pictures! A lot of you were shocked to hear of his arrival...so were we! (After all, we were still 25 days out from his due date when he made his appearance). I had just gone to my 36 week checkup two days prior, all was healthy and well with baby and with me and there were no signs of early labor. At that appointment, the doctor said that I was 1 cm dilated, but honesty I knew I could be at that for several weeks before seeing any progress to labor. I had a long list of nesting projects I had been slowly working on and was hoping to finish before Milo’s arrival.  Thursday morning rolled around, I realized I was beginning to show signs of possible labor nearing, but still wasn’t too alarmed just yet, after all...
