Can it be?

10 months already!

It has been a joy to watch our daughter learn and explore new things this past month.  I am now at home full time and even in the week I've been home she has changed so much.  She turned 10 months old today and I laughed a lot today with my sweet little girly!  She is a joyful, bubbly little girl.  Most people who see her smile (that don't know her) ask, "is she always this happy?"...to which I normally respond, "yep"!  Now, those who know her well enough, know that of course she does cry (mostly when she's having teething pain or tired).  I seem to be more amazed as each new day comes and goes with the new things she's learning.  I've never seen the day in and day out development of a person before Karis, so from birth watching how babies learn and grow completely fascinates me.  I find myself often just sitting and watching her explore new things until she figures out how to work it.

She is becoming a pro at opening and closing things.  Along that line, she most recently started opening books and turning pages.  I am pretty sure she could do this for hours on end and of course we read to her if she doesn't turn the pages to quickly.  I have been working with her to "turn the page" and when you say those words, she does just that.

She walks along furniture like crazy-and this is becoming her favorite mode of transportation (of course she is still crawling super fast).  We encourage her to take steps on her own towards mommy or daddy and she has successfully made one-three steps without assistance before falling to the ground.  I have a feeling she will be taking off running as soon as she figures out the whole walking thing!

More and more of her personality is starting to show...a few things I discovered this past month were that she knows when she is into something she should not be in because if I walk up she will immediately turn around and hand me whatever she has that is "not for Karis" (which is our new phrase these days and it seems I say it all day long!) or if she pulls something out that seems to be bigger than she can manage she crawls away really fast (typically to mommy or daddy).  Even this early on, I really believe she is already learning right from wrong.

One other thing we're starting to realize about her is that she is determined!  Nothing slows her down...if something is in her way, she goes over it, under it, around it to find what she is looking for on the other side.

She also needs "alone/quiet time".  If she gets too much going on around her for a long period of time, she is fussy and cranky.  As soon as you remove her from the busyness...she calms down and becomes very content.  I'm learning to pick up on the cues she gives so that she doesn't get to the complete meltdown.

She is happy (as I mentioned before)...she will crack herself up randomly and has a very distinct giggle.  Even today we were driving in the car together and I began to hear giggling from the back seat...for no reason in particular other than she's just happy!  This of course makes mommy and daddy crack up often and we find our home is filled with even more laughter than it was before she was born.  Along that line, when you take a picture of her now and say "smile" she will do just that!  Typically her eyes are all scrunched closed with the biggest grin possible for a little baby =)

She likes to move/shake/dance often!  Anytime there is music going on (I mean it could even be elevator music) she starts dancing with a huge grin on her face.  Sometimes I even think she has her own tune going on in her head because there are times when she starts shaking/dancing her body for no reason at all other than she feels the need to move it!

Other things about month 10 is she started getting her third tooth (one of her top front teeth); she is learning how to give kisses, although still very slimy, I love them; she has started to wave bye bye and give high fives.

I thank the Lord for these past 10 months with our sweet little Honey Bear and can't believe we're two months away from celebrating the day the Lord brought her into our lives one year ago!
