Karis is ACTIVE...and that just might be a slight understatement! Anyone who tells you that life goes by fast and appears to be a blur when you become a parent, seems to be telling the truth. As I'm reflecting over the past couple months, I can't help but wonder how did they go by so fast! I'm really learning what it means to enjoy every moment with my daughter and can't seem to thank God enough for allowing us to be her parents. She has been learning and trying to perfect several new skills and it's fun to watch her personality really start to emerge!
Month 6
- The biggest news of month six, was she started crawling (and not just army crawling). Steve and I celebrated our anniversary and took Karis along to Jekyll Island; after being in the car for 5 hours, she was ready to be out of the car seat and showed us by crawling once we got her out of the car. We could not believe it was actually happening! (As you can imagine, we are trying to keep up with her, she is quite the mover).
- She also graduated to taking baths in the "big girl" tub, which means we no longer have to use the baby tub. She crawls all over the bathtub trying to catch the toys that float by her-she loves her bath time!
- When we went to her 6 month doctor check up, the pediatrician was concerned with her weight (being in between the 5-10 percentile-so on the low end) and encouraged us to start solid foods. We had already tried doing solid foods, she just really wasn't too interested in them and would push and fuss. Finally one day, it just clicked for her during month six and she eats like crazy. We started with two meals a day (and of course milk throughout the day). It's been fun to try new fruits and vegis.
- Papa came for a visit and to help us paint inside our house...Karis had fun with him!

- She traveled with mommy and daddy on her third long distance trip by plane. Steve and I had to be in Phoenix for work and little Karbear got to come along. A whole week with being around mommy 24/7...she loved it (and I admit I did too). She traveled well (but didn't adjust to the 3 hour time difference so well).
- During that trip, she pulled herself up for the first time! I was sitting on the floor stuffing some brochures in bags while Karis crawled by my side playing with her toy. Next thing I know, she's grabbing the bin that had all the bags with stuff in them and pulled herself up.
- When she sees somthing she wants, she WILL get it! We are convinced she has inherited her mother's "determination"!
- We moved Karis to eating 3 meals a day (with milk throughout the day) and she has become quite the eater! There doesn't seem to be anything she does not like...I can even feed her asparagus and papaya!
- Karis figured out how to pick up food and put it in her mouth. During our trip to Phoenix, we let her try the cheerio looking things (that disolve instantly in your mouth to avoid choking) and she likes them a lot!
- Grammy and Gramps got to come for a visit, we were only able to see them for a couple days before we had to leave for Phoenix...but we enjoyed seeming them!
