Two and Three

It seems like this season of our lives is passing by so fast! There have been many changes, joys, frustrations, victories and things to praise God for...one of those is our wonderful daughter and the joy she brings to our lives. She past the three month mark a few weeks back and we are in awe as each new day comes and goes with the new things she learns. I constantly find myself fascinated with her more and more and cannot believe this little miracle has been given to us, entrusted to our care, from our heavenly father.

She has quite the personality and I have a slight feeling she might be kind of a people person...gee wonder where she might get that from! She smiles all the time...seriously...this child of ours barely cries. Don't get me wrong, she does fuss and cry, but those moments are few and far between. We feel very priveledged to spend life with her. Besides smiling and cooing at people, during months 2 and 3 she started "singing" along with mommy and daddy when they would sing to her, "talking" on a constant basis and in response to people talking to her, recognizing and sucking on her hands, drooling (we are thankful for all the bibs we were given as gifts!), slept 7 hours straight (must have been a fluke because this still doesn't happen every night) and started holding her head up better on her own.

At her two month doctor appointment, she was given a couple immunization shots-she didn't cry very much at first, but later in the day she woke up from her nap crying and wouldn't stop. We took her back to the doctor and they said because she is still so little, the shots probably hurt being given in her leg and that we could give her some baby Tylenol. After the Tylenol, she was back to her happy little self. She weighed 9 pounds 11 oz (almost 4 pounds up from her birth weight) and was 22 inches long (4 inches up from her birth length).

I went back to work part time in October, but I worked from home. I was back in the office full time November 1, when Karis was 10 weeks old. It was hard for me at first, and there are still days when I would rather stay home than head off to work...it's especially hard when she's grinning at me as I'm saying bye to her before walking out the door. I'm taking the advice of "cherishing every moment" with her very seriously and find great joy in being her mother and taking care of her needs.

The roll changes we've experienced were difficult and still are at times. Stepping into the role of mommy, and still maintaining a healthy wife and employee roles have been challenging, but God is refining me in the process and for that I am very thankful.

I pray that we can cultivate a home that is supportive, loving, cherishes each moment, points our family to the gospel and shows an example of honoring God in all we do.

Some pictures of Karis in months two and three...
