One Month
It seems crazy that Karis is already one month old (well almost 6 weeks as I write this blog).
Here is a day in the life of our one month old:
After my mom left, Steve's parents, better known as Grammy and Pops, came into town to meet Karis. They, too, were very helpful! Bob helped Steve hang shelves in the laundry room along with other household projects while Jeannine helped out around the house too. But of course lovin on little Karis was the main goal of the week! It was a joy to have them here for such an important time in our lives.
Here is a day in the life of our one month old:
Karis is very content in the morning, typically with lots of smiles!
Not so happy with a dirty diaper though!
Getting ready for bath time
She doesn't like baths too much, but she's starting to enjoy them
Part of bath time she hates...getting out of the warm water, but as long as we wrap her up fast she is happy
Play time with mom
Serious face
I'm tired...stop with the pictures mom!
Nap time
Waking up from her nap
Our favorite part of her waking up, big stretches!
Reflecting back over the month...
Adore her - Karis at 1 week old
Other than eat, sleep and dirty diapers...here are some other neat things about her first month:
She began smiling by the first week at home and we were able to catch it briefly on camera. She smiles a lot, but it's hard to catch it on camera!
Here she is smiling at grandma and mommy
All Smiles!
She gained almost two pounds in the first month, putting her at about 8 pounds.- She sucked her thumb and began finding her fingers to suck on when she's not swaddled up.
- She went to church for the first time outside of the womb and Winterpark to eat with mommy, daddy and grandma. There were several other outings, mostly to the grocery store and Uncle Rob and Aunt Lala's house!
- She started to coo more distinctly when she is happy and content.
- After Grandma left town, Karis let mommy and daddy go on a date without any fuss-she hung out in the carrier on mommy and was very content!
She changes so much day by day and we love her so much as the days go by. Some of our favorite moments are when we snuggle with her-whether that be on mommy or daddy's chest or all three of us together in the bed in the morning when she wakes up!
Another special part of the first month was being blessed to have my mom (grandma) in town for the first two weeks of Karis' life and look forward to her next visit! She not only helped take care of me while I recovered from the surgery, but she took care of the household duties, cooking, laundry that needed to be done and of course holding and loving on our little Kar-bear so mommy and daddy could rest!

shirt while holding Karis!
It was sad to see them leave, but we get to see them again soon when we go to Texas in October!
We were very tired in the first month (as you see below) and have many funny stories of the sleep deprived moments from the middle of the night feedings. It's amazing what you do when you're so tired!
We tried to nap as often as we could!
Even though we were so tired during the first month (and still are on most days), we wouldn't have it any other way! We tell Karis all the time that she is very special and created for a purpose. We look forward to watching her grow into who God intends for her to be.
Karis at 4 weeks
Blessings, Jenny
